Financial Support for Your Teacher Training Journey

The cost to train with North East SCITT is £9,250, but did you know that you could be eligible for bursaries or scholarships up to £30,000 to help fund your 10-month ITT course?

Bursaries and Scholarships

 

Financial support for teacher training vary annually, influenced by the demand for subject teachers. The bursaries available for the 2024/25 academic year are among the most generous offerings from the Department for Education to date.

 

Bursaries up to £28k

Depending on your teacher training subject and degree classification, you could receive a bursary of up to £28,000 to begin your training in September 2024.

Applicants with a 1st, 2:1, 2:2, PhD, or master's degree may be eligible for these bursaries.

 

Scholarships up to £30k

You may be entitled to a scholarship of:


  • £30,000 in chemistry, computing, maths and physics

  • £27,000 in languages

Student Finance

 

In addition to bursaries and scholarships, you may also explore student finance options to support your ITT year. Student loans are available to assist with funding, and you may qualify for additional funds based on various criteria such as low income or caregiving responsibilities for disabled children.

 

How to Apply

 

The North East SCITT team will assist you in applying for bursaries and scholarships, however you must be entitled to support under the Student Finance England criteria. Eligibility is determined by your highest relevant academic award and the subject you are training to teach. Find out more here.
