What are School Experience Days?

We understand that the transition into teaching can be daunting, so we're here to help you feel more confident in your decision. We offer not one but THREE options for gaining school experience to get you back into school and give you a feel of school life, from a morning in school to a paid internship, check out your options below…

School Experience Days

School Experience Days 

During a School Experience Day you get to spend the full day in school, supporting a department of your choice with the opportunity to observe and help out in lessons. You’ll see how the teachers manage the class and have the chance to ask them questions and learn useful techniques. Don’t be shy whilst in school, grab the opportunity to chat to teachers, trainees and students. Not forgetting the delicious school meal you’ll get a taste of at lunchtime! 


If you have any apprehensions about teaching as a career, be it behaviour management or nerves about the busy, fast paced environment, this option will give you best opportunity to experience school life and get advice and pockets of wisdom from current teachers.

Teacher Training Taster Sessions

Taster Sessions 

Our Taster Sessions allow you to spend the morning in school, observing parts of up to two lessons in your chosen subject with the chance to chat to teachers and trainees and ask them any questions you might have. Our SCITT team will talk you through the course so you know what to expect as well the application process, funding and more, and of course answer any questions you may have.


If you want to know more about any aspect of the course, or simply want to speak face to face with our team about factors like funding or school placements, this option will give you the answers you need.

Paid Summer Internships

Paid Summer Internships 

Paid Internships are open for university students studying STEM subjects, computing or MFL, in any year of study. This option is a great way to gain experience in a school environment whilst working alongside your chosen department supporting lessons, intervention groups, or clubs. You’ll spend 3 weeks in school and will be paid £900 minimum!
