Teacher training entry requirements
To be accepted onto our courses you will need:

To be a graduate (recent or earlier in life) with a degree.

Grade C or above (or Grade 4 or above) or equivalent in GCSE English and maths.

Grade C or above (or Grade 4 or above) or equivalent in GCSE science for primary school teacher training.

We also warmly welcome applicants with relevant industrial or commercial experience (degree essential).
If any of your qualifications were obtained overseas, you must apply for a Statement of Comparability from ENIC.
We are a Safer Recruitment provider which means that we have robust safeguarding practices in place.
*Please note, GCSE equivalent qualifications must be obtained via Equivalency Testing.
The interview
Candidates with strongly written applications, who meet the entry requirements will be invited to an interview day. This will involve a full day spent at The Academy at Shotton Hall in Peterlee. The day will consist of:

Two short written tasks

A 4 minute teaching task (for your panel members - you will not be teaching children)
If you are successful at this stage, you will then be invited for a formal panel interview which will be held on the same day. You will also be given the chance to speak with staff, students and current trainees.
Course fees
The fee to train with North East SCITT is £9,250 however, you could be entitled to a bursary of up to £27,000 or a scholarship of up to £29,000. Bursary amounts will vary depending on your teacher training subject and degree classification.
